Why storytelling? Why now?

I am tired of old stories. 

Stories centering fear, worry, not-enoughness. 

I am tired of regurgitating stories I simply no longer believe. 

And, I am curious. 

I am in a place of curiosity. Of wonder and wander. 

Will I get to meet the edges of my own imagination? 

Where does possibility end for me? 

I’ve been exploring this question in the novel I am currently writing. 

And now, I’m opening myself up to co-create the answer to these questions with you.

Since sowing this new story – the story of Xio, the Storyteller – I’ve opened portals I didn’t know existed. Each portal has opened itself up to thousands of other stories (windows of possibility). 

Possibilities that scare me. 

Possibilities that excite me.

Possibilities I impatiently wait to be birthed.

And some that I am unwilling to wait for.

Our world needs them now. 

La Ventana Storytelling was born out of this unwillingness to wait. 

Unwillingness to wait for the “right" time.

Unwillingness to wait for permission.

As a storyteller, I walk this world with my senses open 

I become a bridge between the known and the unknown. 

I hold my co-creators hand, and we walk into this New Earth together.

As a storyteller, I pray every morning to cross paths with kin eager to share their worlds with me.

To invite me into the beautiful, homey, safe, wonderous spaces they’ve created.

Spaces they are longing, eager, ready… to share with the world.

When they’re scared, I sit with their fear, raise a mirror, and anchor them back to their inner knowing. 

If you are called to share this story with the world, it is because you are ready, I remind them.

You get to decide how much of this offering you share…
